Developed on a Victorian farm site, once the ‘Model Farm’ for Powis Castle

Coed-y-Dinas Garden, Home & Country Centre

Coed-y-Dinas is part of the Charlies Stores Group, a company established for over 22 years in Mid Wales. The company, headed by Chris Lloyd, purchased the land and farm buildings at Coed-y-Dinas near Welshpool six years ago. The company’s drive and vision has led an ambitious project to convert some of the finest Welsh Victorian agricultural buildings into a destination garden centre.

This unique site was fully opened in March 2006. Originally the ‘Home Farm’ for Powis Castle it is set in the Severn Valley just south of Welshpool with wonderful views on either side. Developed on the old farm site great care has been taken to keep the majority of original buildings and they have been sensitively restored with many of the unusual features retained. Documentary evidence tells us there was a house on the land as early as 1720 with the first farm building built circa 1814. There are also beautiful examples of Victorian architecture.
