Climbing

One of the great outdoor sports, climbing provides a massive buzz and a huge sense of satisfaction to those who take on the challenge. Whilst the physical demands are obvious, you also need mental strength and a cool head to complete your climb. Climbing initially developed in this country as an outdoor sport on crags in the mountain regions of the UK where it continues to flourish. More recently there has been a huge growth in the popularity of indoor climbing on climbing walls. Our part-time course will focus on the latter with the opportunity to experience different climbing walls in the region. The full-time course will also cover use of climbing walls but will also embrace outdoor climbing with the opportunity to progress to the nationally accreditted Single Pitch Award Training

At Porthpean we have a large indoor climbing wall and a 225 square metre x 12 metre high ropes course which among other activities has a climb / abseil tower. these will be used extensively for the instructor courses but can also be used for activity days by everyone else.
