Hereford City's Gallery for the Visual Arts

heref omp
Exhibitions run for one to three weeks giving you the chance to see a variety of artists and creative styles throughout the year. Gallery@OMP has exhibitions of 2-D and 3-D work from contemporary artists from the Marches and beyond. There will be something for everyone throughout the year as artists using any media will display their latest works. Artists are encouraged to use the space as a temporary studio during their exhibitions whenever possible.
Gallery@OMP is also introducing Gallery@Night with exhibitors asked to open on a Thursday night so that you can fit in a visit on your way back to your hotel, before the weekend's shopping or an evening out. After looking around the current exhibition you'll find a choice of cafes during the day in Church Street , plus pubs and restaurants, open in the Independent Quarter at day and night, to rest and refresh.

Historic Building
The 14th Century Old Mayor's Parlour is located within the old-walled area of the City of Hereford called the Independent Quarter; Hereford's bijou take on the North Laine, Brighton and York's Shambles. The present building was probably laid-out in the early 16th century. On the first floor of the Old Mayor's Parlour there is a particularly rare plaster ceiling incorporating coats of arms and nature inspired subjects. You'll also see Hereford's Castle in the roof-truss fresco.

Exhibiting Artists
The gallery is a first-floor exhibition space which can be hired by contemporary artists for one to three weeks. The building is old and quirky, but the display units, hanging system and directional lighting is what you'd expect from a modern gallery space. The Old Mayor's Parlour is enjoyed by residents and visitors to the City who are art buyers and collectors, gallery browsers, history buffs or those just curious to look and perhaps be challenged by some of the exhibitions that will take place.
