Take your seats and get ready to soak up the wonder of Christmas as your steam train whisks you off on an exciting, festive adventure at the Severn Valley Railway.

Tickets are already selling like hot mince pies for the SVR's much-anticipated wealth of Christmas services, including the much-loved Santa Steam Specials.

In fact, the premium Santa Sleigh Express, which this year steams in on December 24th, has already sold out in just over a fortnight since tickets were launched. The service will take passengers on an exciting festive journey from Kidderminster to Highley, packed with sweet treats, entertainment from some mischievous elves, a special gift for the Christmas tree, and the company of Father Christmas himself, who will be meeting families in their seats and handing out presents to children as well as posing for festive selfies.

Back by popular demand, the sell-out Santa Steam Specials return to kick-start the SVR's festive schedule – the busiest time of year for the Railway – running every weekend from December 1st – 23rd.

The SVR's fleet of steam locomotives will be buffed and polished, ready to take families on exciting return steam train journeys from Kidderminster, through the scenic Severn Valley, to meet Santa and his team of elves in his special grotto at Arley Station. After meeting the big man himself, each fare-paying child will receive a present.
Visitors can then soak up the festive atmosphere of Arley Station at their leisure, enjoying some seasonal music and indulging in some traditional treats including hot roasted chestnuts, before boarding the steam train of their choice for the return trip to Kidderminster, with the option of visiting the riverside market town of Bewdley. Always a sell-out, visitors are encouraged to book well in advance. Fares start from £15.00 per person.

For fans of a good seasonal sing-along, the SVR's Christmas Carol Trains, on December 1st, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd are ideal. Visitors can start the journey at Kidderminster, where the concourse will be filled with seasonal music, before boarding the diesel train for a jolly journey, complete with live music, to The Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley for a rousing evening of carol singing, led by a local choir. Visitors can also warm their vocal chords with a warming glass of punch and a mince pie. Trains depart at 7.45pm.

Those looking for a truly indulgent experience can enjoy a sumptuous dining experience on board one of the SVR's Christmas Dining Trains, including Midweek Luncheon Trains, Evening Diner Trains, Murder Mystery Trains and Festive Season Luncheon Trains on selected dates in December – see www.svr.co.uk for more details.
Festive Afternoon Tea experience, including a sherry reception, on board a beautifully-restored 1930s teak dining car as their train steams along from Kidderminster to Highley. Service runs on December 4th, 5th, 6th, 11th, 12th and 13th.

A delicious festive treat is on offer thanks to the Christmas Carvery at The Engine House, on December 4th, 5th and 6th, including return steam train travel from Kidderminster to The Engine House Visitor Centre, where visitors can enjoy the many exhibits on offer before enjoying a leisurely three-course carvery lunch.
And when all the excesses of Christmas are over, those looking for a way to relax can enjoy the SVR's Festive Season Services, running from Boxing Day until January 6th, complete with the SVR's special Twelve Days of Christmas ideas for making the most of your trip, which can be found at www.svr.co.uk
Lewis Maddox, the SVR's events co-ordinator, said: "We've got so many fantastic opportunities for visitors to make sure this Christmas really is one to remember.
"There's always such a wonderful atmosphere at the Railway at Christmas and we're especially looking forward to this year's extra-special Christmas Eve Santa Sleigh Express services, which are a lovely way to make this exciting day an even more memorable one."
