Hear the whistle, feel the rumble of the steam engine under your feet and prepare to venture back in time for a journey of discovery.

Climb into your cosy carriage and let the heritage steam locomotives take you on an exciting trip out along our 16-mile line, passing through the stunning scenery of the Severn Valley, from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth.

Hop on and off to explore any of the six, beautifully-restored stations or head to our Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley – packed with a wealth of interactive exhibits. Try your hand at engine driving on the footplate of a real steam locomotive, sort the mail in the travelling post office, see the King George VI Royal Carriage and meet the engine that collided with a camel! Enjoy a bite to eat at the on-site restaurant and let the kids burn-off energy on the outdoor adventure playground.

A Very British Summer at the SVR!
Guard signallingBring out the bunting! There's a wealth of good, old-fashioned fun to be had at the Severn Valley Railway this summer holidays.
From deckchairs to candyfloss, visitors can immerse themselves in fond memories of summer holidays by the seaside, while youngsters can enjoy all the fun of a Very British Summer, with lots to do and see all along the line from July 20th – September 1st.
There's also a great value deal to be had – any family purchasing a £49 Family Freedom of the Line ticket (valid for two adults and up to four children) can come back to enjoy another great day out for just £19.70 until the end of the summer holidays.
The SVR's much-loved locomotives will be in full-steam, taking passengers for trips back in time to the heyday of steam travel, when thousands boarded trains to the coast for their annual summer holiday. Each of the SVR's bunting-adorned stations will offer a range of activities, including children's treasure hunts and games.
At Kidderminster, visitors can sit back and relax on deckchairs, see Punch & Judy shows, join in fête games, pick up a tasty treat from a range of stalls or have a picnic as the trains steam by.
A walking train tour will take place at Bewdley, while Arley is the place to go for garden games, picnic area, deckchairs, Pooh sticks and a lemonade stall.
Picnic along the lineHighley will host a range of attractions including giant indoor and outdoor games, Hi-De-Hi Summer Camp themed shows, cinema and dressing up photo point, while Bridgnorth will host a station treasure hunt, vintage bus rides and competitions on selected dates throughout the holidays.
"We're celebrating the golden age of the great British seaside holiday, with all the things we loved to do, see, eat and drink, from candy floss and ice cream (without those pesky seagulls) to deckchairs and Punch & Judy Shows," explained Lewis Maddox, the SVR's events manager.
"Each of our stations will be offering something different, and with our 'return for £19.70' deal, families can come back again before the holidays are over and enjoy something different along the line."

Daring visitors can brave our Ghost Trains, running in late October, before our ever-popular Santa Steam Specials arrive with bells on during December.

Steam Trains run daily between May and October, and at weekends and in school holidays from February to December.
